Complications of colorectal surgery

چکیده
Background There is a more important incidence (73% males and 78% females) of neoplastic colorectal pathology in patients over 75. Old age is generally considered as a risk factor, whether in terms of morbidity or mortality. Several authors reported an increase of postoperative complications (25,5%-41,2% versus 16,3%-21,5%) in old patients [1,2]. Falch C. reports a 30-day mortality of 12% in patients over the age of 80 against 3% of patients between 60 and 79 years. [3] Age alone isn’t a promoting factor of complications in selected older patients [4].

Comparison of Early Results and Complications between Multi-and Single-Port Sleeve Gastrectomy: A Randomized Clinical Study
AbstractBackground: In recent years, laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) has become more acceptable for obese patients. Single-port sleeve gastrectomy (SPSG) is more popular since each abdominal incision carries the risk of bleeding, hernia, and internal organ injury as well as exponentially affecting cosmesis. This cross-sectional study aimed at comparing multi-port sleeve gastrectomy (MPSG)...

متن کاملPrognostic Value of C - reactive Protein and Procalcitonin Levels in Predicting Anastomotic Leakage after Colorectal Resection in Mazandaran Province
Background and purpose: Colorectal resection is used for various diseases and leakage in an anastomosis is one of its complications. Some studies confirmed the predictive effects of C-reactive protein (CRP) and procalcitonin markers leakage in anastomosis. This study aimed to investigate the prognostic value of CRP and procalcitonin in predicting anastomotic leakage in elective colorectal surge...
متن کاملC-Reactive Protein as a Marker for Postoperative Complications. Are There Differences in Emergency and Elective Colorectal Surgery?
BACKGROUND C-reactive protein levels are frequently raised in patients with major complications following elective colorectal surgery and used as a predictor for complications. The significance of raised C-reactive protein levels to predict outcome in emergency colorectal surgery is unclear, because preoperative C-reactive protein levels are often raised. OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was t...
متن کاملA multivariate analysis of potential risk factors for intra- and postoperative complications in 1316 elective laparoscopic colorectal procedures.
OBJECTIVE To identify predictive risk factors for intra- and postoperative complications in patients undergoing laparoscopic colorectal surgery. BACKGROUND DATA In emergency situations or in elective open and laparoscopic colorectal surgery, there are many risk factors that should be recognized by the surgeon to reduce complications and initiate adequate treatment. Most available data, thus f...
متن کاملDoes Early Enteral Feeding Affect Clinical Outcome Or Cytokine Profiles After Elective Surgery For Colorectal Cancer?
Patients who have intestinal cancer are prone to malnutrition, which can result in deterioration of physiological function, poor wound healing, increased risk of infection and prolonged hospital stay. These complications are particularly relevant after colorectal surgery. Early enteral feeding, to enhance nutritional status, has been reported to reduce post-operative complications, length of ho...
